The spring is here! Now it is only few weeks until the first foals are born, competitions and breeding shows ahead.. Our horses are in good shape and we took some pictures of our five years old stallion Hattur from Eylandi some days ago, ridden by Davíð brother Siggi Matt. Hattur is turning five after Álfur from Selfoss and Keila from Bjarnastaðir (8.34).
Ísold is a promising fivegater with clear and good gates. She has high movements and her character is 100%. We started to train her the fall of 2010 and we were pleasantly surpriced.. she turned out to be great and we were very impressed by Ísold. She is after Dúkka from Dalbæ which is after our favorite, Gustur from Grund, and Dóttla from Stóra-Hofi. Ísold´s father is Klettur from Hvammi which has been proofing himself as a breeding horse.. Ísold could be a very good fivegater for sport as well as a breeding mare! F : Klettur from Hvammi (8.49) M : Dúkka from Dalbæ BLUP : 111 Ísold is pregnant with the amazing stallion Toppur from Auðsholtshjáleiga. Their future offspring has 119 in BLUP, 75% chance to be pinto and 50% chance to be grey! Byr from Mykjunes is a interesting breeding stallion with great trades, eg. 9 for tölt, neck, porportions, hoofs and main - in total 8.29 in FIZO. He is breed by Davíð parents - Matthías and Selma. Byr seems to be giving very promising youngster but the first vintage is in training now, born 2010. Two of his offsprings were judged for confirmation in January by the former breeding judge Kristinn Hugason and got 8.25-8.30. Both are from Fornusandar breed by Axel Geirsson. His offsprings are really big and mature with very long legs and neck as well as much main. They most have open gates with lot of tölt. Our Hope - Von from Ey I (Von means Hope) is starting well! She is after Fjarki from Breiðholt and Andvari daughter Venus from Ey I. She is breed by our friends Gunnar and Berglind at Ey I but owned by us since she was a foal. She is young and turns five next spring but she is very special - energetic fourgater with very high bouncy movements and some x-factor. She has lot of potential and we aim with her both in FIZO and FIPO shows. She is at the moment in training by Bylgja Gauksdóttir and they seem to be doing a good job together. Dagfari from Eyland is after Vera from Ingólfshvol and honour price stallion Aron from Strandarhöfði. He is a promising sport fourgater with excellent gates, high movements and lot of power. He is turning six next spring and has been in good hands of Bylgja Gauksdóttir but they had their first competition last year and then reached ~6.80 in V1. We will hopefully see more of them on the sport track this year. The young horses born 2010 are doing well in their first months of training. Two of them are Kraflar from Mykjunes and Duld from Eyland. They were trained for 1.5 month last fall and have now been inside by Bylgja Gauksdóttir since middle of January. Kraflar from Mykjunes is breed by us and after the honour price stallion Keilir from Miðsitja and our Elja from Þingeyrar which makes him half brother of Askja and Glaður. He is a promising fivegater with lots movements. He chooses big streps trot and is only taking his first steps in tölt, but looks really promising. Duld from Eyland is also breed by us, after another honour price stallion Hróður from Refsstaðir and the Glóðar-daughter Draumsýn from Minni-Borg, owned now by Oliver Kubinger in Austria. Duld is a very loveable and easy young mare with all gates wide open. She has a nice confirmation with delicate looks, long neck and just looks like a little lady :) For the last two month or so it has been very difficult to ride outside in Víðidalur - Fákur due to much glacier on the riding paths. It is nice for day and a day but not for so long, it is very hard to train the young horses so due to that the riding hall has been used a lot. But once in a while it is necessary to take the youngsters outside :) Here are are some pictures of our young five gated stallion Hattur from Eyland - IS2009184085 after Álfur from Selfoss and the Keilir-daughter Keila from Bjarnastaðir (8.34). Byr from Mykjunesi is a beautiful black stallion that is owned by Davíð´s father. He has some great qualities that we have been trying to capture. He is after Kjarkur from Egilsstaðabær and Dögg from Dallbær, daughter of Trostan from Kjartansstaðir and Nípa from Stóra-Hof. He has in total 8.29 there of 9 for tölt, neck/shoulders, porportions, main and hoofs. He is very strong on his traits to his offsprings and they are like him - big, with lot of main, long legs and amazing necks. Much gate, both trot and tölt. We are so lucky to have three of his daughter out of some of our favorite mares. :) Dögg from Eyland is after Byr and our Vera from Ingólfshvol (8.26 ra.). She has really good confirmation and her movements on gates are fantastic! She does not need any hills to move her legs ;) Sadly Dögg is Vera´s last offspring as we lost Vera last summer. We are hoping for the best, and that she also have Vera strong traits and will become a breeding mare at Eyland after some years. Byrjun from Mykjunes is after Byr and Elja from Þingeyrar (8.04). She is big and handsome, goes on all gate. Elja has been giving us some really good offspirngs eg. our talented Askja (8.42) and young stallion Glaður. We are very excitied to start training Byrjun next fall. Then the third mare is Hrafntinna from Mykjunes after Byr and Hrafndís from Hofi. A big black, handsome mare with lots of gate! She is born 2010 and was broken in last fall (2013). She began really well and we will continue her training this winter. We also have the eye out for promising Byr offsprings and came a cross this one last fall - Mist from Fornusandar. Amazingly good looking young mare born 2010. Very mature and with really good confirmation. She also starts well under saddle with open all gates. She is after 1.p mother Björk from Norður-Hvammi. Owned and breed by Axel Geirsson. In beginning of November we usually clean and paint the stable - it give´s it a kind of a makeover :) After that there is only one thing to do - fetch the horses! At the moment we have six horses inside, all young and promising. Here beside is Askja a highly talented fivegated mare born 2008. More info about the horses below. Hattur from Eyland - IS2009184085 is after Álfur from Selfoss and Keila from Bjarnastöðum (8.34). A very promising fivegated breeding/sports stallion. He has really good gates and his mind is 10000%. A very sweet and polite stallion! Dagfari from Eyland - IS2008184082 is after Vera from Ingólfshvoli (8.26 ra.) and Aron from Strandarhöfði. A stallion with very even and good gates. His action is amazing. A very promsing sports horse. He had his first competition last summer only 5 years old and scored 6.73 in V1. Askja from Mykjunes - IS2008286725 is a very special mare that we are very proud breeders and owners of! Askja is after Elja from Þingeyrar (8.04) and Akkur form Brautarholt. She was on LM2012 only 4 years old with 8.20 for riding abilities. And this year she did even better with 8.42 for riding abilities e.g.. 9 for pace and willingnes, 8.5 for tölt, slow tempo tölt and form. Amazing young mare that will be exciting to train this winter. Glaður from Mykjunes - IS2009186721 is also a promising stallion after Gaumur from Auðsholtshjáleiga and Elja from Þingeyrar (8.04). He is the little brother of our highly talented Askja here above. A very interesting stallion with high action and lots of gate. Von from Ey IS2009284773 is a after Fjarki from Breiðholt and Andvari daughter Venus from Ey. She is a high action fourgater with lot of potential. Very exciting winter ahead with Von! She is breed by our friends at Ey but own by us since she was a foal. Gyðja from Árbær - IS20082 is after Álfur from Selfoss and Glás from Votmúla (1.p). A very good young mare that has her future ahead. Got 7.99 in FIZO last summer but we have high expectations for her this year. She is owned by Gunter at Störtal. |
